Pretty Cool Pops and The Hamburger Hop

Bon Appetite Magazine and The Illinois Restaurant Association team up yearly to host one of Chicago’s largest festivals of food. The main event is held over the last weekend of September with a festival of food and demos in Millennium park on the 28th and 29th. Several ancillary events take place around the city as well featuring intimate groups of chefs.

This year, Chicago Gourmet has invited Pretty Cool Ice Cream to create something special for their kick off party, a Hamburger Hop, held on Friday September 28th. We took the theme to heart and visited a soda fountain for inspiration! It was hard to choose, there are so many amazing flavors, but finally settled on two of our favorite Soda Fountain inspired flavors, a spicy root beer pop and a malted strawberry shake bar.

Tickets for the Hamburger Hop are sold out, but we will be offering the nostalgic ice cream treats in our shop over the weekend as well, for those who weren’t able to purchase tickets. Our case will be stocked with the Soda Fountain Treats Friday afternoon, and we will continue to offer them until we run out!

Recreate the entire experience and grab a burger near by at one of our favorite neighbors, Red Hot Ranch before your Malted Strawberry Shake Bar. For our vegetarian and vegan friends, try The Chicago Diner for a great meat free burger before you wash it down with a root beer pop! (The Chicago Diner even offers a gluten free bun!)
